The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) today issued a clarification regarding the vacancy count announced for the Combined Civil Services Examination Group IV (2025).
The Commission notes that the statutory retirement age for government employees was raised to 59 years in 2020 and subsequently to 60 years in 2021.
Consequently, TNPSC advises aspirants that the number of vacancies announced for the 2025 examination must not be compared with the number of vacancies announced prior to the year 2020.
This current vacancy count is an accurate reflection of the service rules, as the increase in the retirement age has temporarily reduced the annual rate of superannuation, thereby affecting the fresh vacancies reported.
